Pruning Done Right

Good pruning protects the tree. Bad pruning kills it.

Topping and over-cutting are the fastest way to weaken a healthy tree — yet that’s exactly what untrained crews do. Certified pruning removes the right branches, at the right points, at the right time of year.

We prune to improve structure, increase light and air, clear hazards from your home and wires, and shape the canopy — all while protecting long-term tree health.

The result: trees that look better, live longer, and are far less likely to drop a limb in the next storm.

  • Limbs growing into hydro or utility lines

Trimming & Pruning FAQs

Questions Homeowners Ask Us

When is the best time to prune my trees?

For most species, late winter to early spring (when dormant) is ideal, but dead or hazardous limbs can be removed any time. We’ll advise the right timing for your specific trees.

Will pruning hurt my tree?

Done correctly, no — proper pruning improves health and structure. The damage comes from topping and over-thinning, which we never do.

How much should I prune off?

Generally no more than 20–25% of the canopy at once on a mature tree. We remove only what benefits the tree and your safety.

Can you prune branches away from my roof and gutters?

Yes — clearance pruning to keep limbs off the roof, siding, and gutters is one of our most common requests.

Do you clean up afterwards?

Always. All branches are chipped and hauled away and your yard is left clean.
